Disclosure: this page contains exchange invitation links and codes. If you sign up through them, the exchange may pay Jason Finance a referral commission. It does not raise the fees you pay; the invitation fee rebate is set by the exchange. Our ratings follow the published methodology, where the invitation rebate counts only toward the fees item.
KuCoin fees come down to three things: spot fees depend on whether a coin is class A, B or C, the futures taker fee is three times the maker fee, and USDT withdrawal fees run from 0.4 to 5.5 USDT depending on the network. I have a KuCoin account. This article is based on KuCoin’s official fee table, help center and public API.
The short version: regular users (VIP 0) pay 0.1% maker and taker on class A spot coins, 0.2% on class B and 0.3% on class C. Futures are 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker. Paying fees with KCS takes another 20% off spot fees. A 1,000 USDT market order for a class A coin costs 1 USDT in fees. If you sign up with an invitation code and get a 60% fee rebate, the exchange charges you less: the same trade costs you 0.4 USDT.
This article is a summary of information and not investment advice. The fees and withdrawal fees here come from KuCoin’s official pages and public API on 22 October 2026. They change, so check KuCoin’s current pages before you trade. I will add screenshots of the rates and fee records in my account later. This site does not give advice on futures or leverage; futures fees are listed only so readers can compare costs.

Try the calculatorKuCoin fees at a glance: maker and taker for regular users
These are the rates for regular users (VIP 0) in KuCoin’s official VIP fee table (updated 7 May 2026, checked 22 October 2026):
| Product | Maker | Taker |
|---|---|---|
| Spot, class A coins | 0.1% | 0.1% |
| Spot, class B coins | 0.2% | 0.2% |
| Spot, class C coins | 0.3% | 0.3% |
| Futures | 0.02% | 0.06% |
- Three spot classes: class B fees are twice class A, and class C fees are three times class A. The official fee table does not list which class each coin belongs to, so check before you place an order.
- Maker and taker: an order that rests on the order book and is filled later by someone else is a maker order; a market order, or a limit order that fills immediately, is a taker order. At VIP 0 both are 0.1% on spot, so a Post-only order saves nothing there. On futures the maker fee is a third of the taker fee. When a limit order turns into a taker order is explained in “A limit order is not always a maker order”.
- Convert charges no fee: KuCoin’s help article (updated 24 October 2025) says Convert charges no handling fee, but when the market moves sharply the locked quote may include a spread.
For regular-user fees at other international exchanges side by side, see the “international crypto exchange fee comparison”.
KuCoin VIP levels and thresholds
KuCoin has VIP 0 to VIP 12. Based on the VIP thresholds (updated 10 April 2026) and the VIP fee table, meeting any one column below qualifies you for that level (volumes in USDT):
| Level | KCS held | 30-day spot volume | 30-day futures volume | Spot class A maker/taker | Futures maker/taker |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| VIP 0 | Under 1,000 | Under 1M | Under 5M | 0.1%/0.1% | 0.02%/0.06% |
| VIP 1 | 1,000 | 1M | 5M | 0.095%/0.1% | 0.018%/0.06% |
| VIP 2 | 10,000 | 3M | 8M | 0.09%/0.1% | 0.015%/0.06% |
| VIP 3 | 20,000 | 6M | 16M | 0.075%/0.09% | 0.01%/0.06% |
| VIP 4 | 30,000 | 18M | 40M | 0.055%/0.075% | 0.008%/0.053% |
| VIP 5 | 40,000 | 55M | 60M | 0.035%/0.055% | 0.006%/0.048% |
| VIP 6 | 50,000 | 100M | 120M | 0.025%/0.045% | 0.004%/0.043% |
| VIP 7 | 60,000 | 180M | 200M | 0.015%/0.042% | 0.002%/0.039% |
| VIP 8 | 70,000 | 250M | 300M | 0%/0.042% | 0%/0.036% |
| VIP 9 | 80,000 | 350M | 400M | 0%/0.04% | 0%/0.033% |
| VIP 10 | 90,000 | 550M | 600M | 0%/0.03% | 0%/0.03% |
| VIP 11 | 100,000 | 750M | 800M | 0%/0.028% | 0%/0.028% |
| VIP 12 | 150,000 | 950M | 1,000M | 0%/0.025% | 0%/0.025% |
- Two more thresholds: 30-day average net borrowing (200,000 USDT for VIP 1, 20 million USDT for VIP 12) and account assets (the official table lists only 1 million USDT for VIP 5 and 3 million USDT for VIP 8).
- Each one counts on its own: KuCoin says the criteria are not added together; meeting any one is enough. KuCoin reserves the right to adjust the thresholds.
- Class B and C fall by the same multiples: at VIP 5, for example, class B spot is 0.07%/0.11% and class C is 0.105%/0.165%.
- VIP 1 changes little for most people: on spot only the maker fee drops, from 0.1% to 0.095%, and the taker fee stays the same. Holding 1,000 KCS also means taking on KCS price swings.
Paying fees with KCS: 20% off spot
KCS is KuCoin’s platform token. According to KuCoin’s help article “Using KCS to Save 20% on Trading Fees” (updated 16 December 2025):
- How to turn it on: on the web, turn on Pay Fees with KCS in your user profile or under Fee Discounts at the top right of the trading panel; in the app, turn it on from your personal page. Your KCS must be in the Funding Account or Trading Account, or staked in KCS Staking (with Pay Fees with Staked Amount also turned on).
- What it covers: spot and margin trading, not futures.
- How it is calculated: the fee that would have been charged in USDT is cut by 20% and deducted in KCS at the latest KCS price. When the KCS price moves, the actual discount may be under 20%, and if your KCS balance is too low there is no discount.
- Not for very low rates: if the class A, B or C fee rate is below 0.025%, 0.05% or 0.075% respectively, there is no KCS discount and you pay the full fee in the pair’s quote currency. The VIP fee table also says the KCS discount applies to taker fees only from VIP 8 up.
- What the records look like: on BTC/USDT, a 1 USDT fee shows three records: the original 1 USDT fee, a deduction of 0.80 USDT worth of KCS, and a 1 USDT refund. The details are under Assets > Funding Account > Account Details.
The VIP fee table also lists a further spot discount of 0.5% to 2% through the KCS Loyalty Level. The KCS Loyalty Level depends on how much KCS you stake in KCS Staking as a share of your total account assets, from K1 to K4, with a minimum of 1 KCS staked. The official page does not say which discount each level gets.
Whether a platform token discount is worth it, and how to account for the price risk, is covered in “Are platform token fee rebates worth it?”.
How much does a 1,000 USDT trade cost?
Here is a 1,000 USDT trade at VIP 0 official rates. A fee rebate means the exchange charges you lower fees on your own trades: actual rate = official rate × (1 − rebate). Signing up with this site’s invitation code, KuCoin’s fee rebate is 60% on both futures and spot.
| Trade | Official rate | Official fee | After a 60% fee rebate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spot class A, market order (taker) | 0.1% | 1 USDT | 0.4 USDT |
| Spot class A, resting order (maker) | 0.1% | 1 USDT | 0.4 USDT |
| Spot class C, market order (taker) | 0.3% | 3 USDT | 1.2 USDT |
| Futures, market order (taker) | 0.06% | 0.6 USDT | 0.24 USDT |
| Futures, resting order (maker) | 0.02% | 0.2 USDT | 0.08 USDT |
- For futures, 1,000 USDT is the value of the position traded, not the margin.
- With only the KCS discount and no fee rebate, a class A spot market order costs about 0.8 USDT worth of KCS.
- The more you trade each month, the bigger the gap. If you only buy a little now and then to hold, the difference over a year is a few dozen USDT at most. To work out your own numbers, use the exchange fee calculator.
How the fee rebate, VIP rates and the KCS discount combine
I could not find an official KuCoin page explaining how the invitation fee rebate is paid out or how it combines with VIP rates or the KCS discount, so the table above does not stack them. The rebate rate is whatever the invitation box below and the sign-up page show. I will add screenshots from my account later showing how it appears in the fee records. How fee rebates work at exchanges in general, and how to check one has been applied, is covered in “What is a crypto exchange fee rebate?”.
USDT deposit and withdrawal fees
Common USDT networks in KuCoin’s public API on 22 October 2026:
| Network | Minimum withdrawal fee | Minimum withdrawal | Minimum deposit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tron (TRC20) | 1.99 USDT | 4 USDT | 1 USDT |
| Ethereum (ERC20) | 5.5 USDT | 30 USDT | 1 USDT |
| BNB Smart Chain (BEP20) | 1 USDT | 10 USDT | 0.1 USDT |
| Solana | 1.5 USDT | 3 USDT | n/a |
| TON | 0.5 USDT | 1 USDT | 0.1 USDT |
| Polygon PoS | 0.8 USDT | 1.6 USDT | n/a |
| Arbitrum | 1 USDT | 5 USDT | n/a |
| Plasma | 0.4 USDT | 5 USDT | n/a |
| Aptos | 0.5 USDT | 1 USDT | n/a |
Data from the KuCoin API; “n/a” means the API lists no minimum deposit. On that day Optimism deposits and withdrawals were suspended.
- The withdrawal page has the final fee: KuCoin’s withdrawal guide (updated 17 September 2026) says withdrawal fees differ by token, and once you enter an amount the page shows the network fee and the amount you will receive.
- Internal transfers are free: sending to another KuCoin account (by email, phone number or UID) costs nothing, completes instantly and creates no on-chain transaction.
- Deposit fees: the API lists no USDT deposit fee, and I could not find a current official statement on USDT deposit fees. Go by the deposit page; I will add a screenshot later.
- Mistakes cost a recovery fee: if you deposit on an unsupported network or send an unlisted token, you can apply for self-recovery when the conditions are met. KuCoin’s help article (updated 8 July 2026) lists 40 USDT for a missing or wrong memo and 80 USDT for an unlisted token. Funds sent to a wrong address cannot be recovered.
KuCoin’s USDT withdrawal fees are on the high side. For a comparison across exchanges, see “How to choose a USDT withdrawal network”.
