When you convert USDT to New Taiwan dollars on MAX, the way you place the order sets the fee: maker orders pay 0.08% and taker orders pay 0.16%, twice as much. On 10,000 USDT, the two ways of ordering differ by about NT$266. After the sale, two more things matter when you withdraw TWD to your bank: submitting before or after 11:00 changes the arrival time by one business day, and TWD deposits and withdrawals are paused for several days while you change your bank account.
This article is a summary of information and is not investment, tax or legal advice. Fees, withdrawal rules and arrival times can change. All figures come from MAX’s official pages and public API as of the dates shown, so check MAX’s official help pages before acting.
MAX USDT/TWD fees: maker 0.08%, taker 0.16%
MAX charges trading fees on a maker-taker model. On 8 October 2026, the rates for regular users (VIP 0) were as follows (MAX fee page, official help article):
| Type | When it applies | Fee |
|---|---|---|
| Maker | The order does not fill right away, waits in the order book, and is later filled by someone else’s order | 0.08% of the trade amount |
| Taker | The order fills right away against an order already in the book, for example a market order | 0.16% of the trade amount |
What counts is whether the order fills immediately, not whether it is a limit or market order. MAX explains that limit and market orders that fill immediately both pay the taker fee. You pay the maker fee when your buy price is below the current lowest ask, or your sell price is above the current highest bid (official help article).
A common case: you want to sell USDT, you enter the current bid as your limit price, and the order fills the moment you send it. You pay 0.16%, not 0.08%.
Example: selling 10,000 USDT as a taker vs a maker
At 17:30 Taiwan time on 8 October 2026, the best bid in the MAX USDT/TWD order book was 31.993 and the best ask was 31.994, a gap of only 0.001 (MAX public API). Selling 10,000 USDT at that spread:
| Order type | Fill price | Trade amount | Fee | TWD received |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Market sell (taker 0.16%) | 31.993 | 319,930 | 511.89 | 319,418.11 |
| Limit 31.994, maker only, waiting for a buyer (maker 0.08%) | 31.994 | 319,940 | 255.95 | 319,684.05 |
The difference is about NT$266. The fees alone account for NT$256, and the price only NT$10. The USDT/TWD bid and ask usually sit very close together, so the fee is the main cost here, and a maker order saves more.
The catch with a maker order is that it may not fill. If the price moves down, your sell order may sit there with no buyer. If you need the TWD quickly, or the amount is small and a few dollars don’t matter to you, a market order is a reasonable choice.
Use Post-only to make sure you pay the maker fee
MAX suggests that people who want to save on fees place their price outside the best price on the other side and tick Post-only (official help article). With it ticked, an order that would fill immediately is not sent, so you are sure to pay the maker rate.
Also, the MAX order form fills in the “last price” by default, and that price often fills immediately. If you want the maker fee, check the price again before you submit:
- Selling USDT: enter the current best ask (or higher), not the bid.
- Buying USDT: enter the current best bid (or lower), not the ask.
Convert suits small amounts, not large ones
MAX also offers Convert: you pick the coins to swap, MAX builds a quote from the prices in the order book, and the trade goes through once you accept it, with no order to place and wait on. For conversions involving USDT or TWD, each conversion is capped at the equivalent of NT$30,000, with at most 10 conversions per minute (MAX Convert FAQ).
So Convert works for clearing out scattered small balances. To convert hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of USDT, a limit maker order in the USDT/TWD order book is the more practical route.
Saving a bit more: MAX Token, VIP and invitation codes
- Paying with MAX Token: once enabled, fees are paid in MAX Token and you pay 70% of the original fee (official help article). You need to hold MAX Token, and its price fluctuates.
- VIP 1: with 30-day trading volume of NT$3 million, or 500 MAX locked, the maker fee drops to 0.045% and the taker fee to 0.14% (MAX fee page).
- Invitation code: signing up with an invitation code gets you the official fee discount. See the invitation code box below for the rate and period.
After converting USDT to TWD, how to withdraw to your bank
TWD can only be withdrawn to a bank account you have linked and verified on MAX, and your account must reach level 2 before you can use TWD deposits and withdrawals (deposit and withdrawal limits).
Withdrawal steps
Following MAX’s TWD withdrawal guide:
- Sell your USDT for TWD first, and check that the trade went through and your wallet shows a TWD balance.
- In the app, tap “Wallet” > “TWD” > “Withdraw”.
- Enter the withdrawal amount and submit.
- Enter your two-factor authentication code. Once it is verified, the withdrawal request is complete.
A withdrawal request cannot be cancelled after you submit it, so check the amount first.
Fees, minimum and limits
| Item | Individual account |
|---|---|
| Withdrawal fee | NT$30 per withdrawal (to your linked bank account) |
| Minimum withdrawal | NT$100 |
| Per-withdrawal limit | NT$1 million |
| 24-hour limit | NT$2 million |
| Monthly limit | NT$5 million |
The withdrawal fee went from NT$15 to NT$30 on 1 March 2025. Bankee investment accounts applied for and linked through MAX before 15 December 2024 pay no fee (MAX announcement, deposit and withdrawal fees). Because the fee is a flat NT$30 per withdrawal, it is a smaller share of larger amounts. If you split the money into many small withdrawals, the fees keep adding up.
Arrival time: 11:00 is the cutoff
| When you submit | Expected transfer time |
|---|---|
| Before 11:00 on a bank business day | Before 17:00, within 0 to 1 business days counting from that day |
| After 11:00 on a bank business day | Before 17:00, within 1 to 2 business days counting from that day |
| Non-business day (weekend, public holiday) | Arrives in the afternoon of the next business day |
The source is MAX’s help article on TWD withdrawal arrival times (in Chinese). MAX also notes that arrival times can change because of review or accounting requirements, and the actual arrival time is what counts.
Take extra care before long holidays. For Lunar New Year 2026, MAX announced that TWD withdrawals made after 11:00 on Friday 13 February would be postponed and sent out gradually from Monday 23 February, when banks reopened (MAX announcement). If you need the money, submit before 11:00 on the last business day before the holiday.
Changing your bank account pauses TWD deposits and withdrawals for a while
Plan the timing before you change your linked bank account. According to MAX’s help article on changing the linked bank account (in Chinese):
- Changing banks requires a new review, which takes 2 to 4 business days (excluding weekends and public holidays).
- After verification, withdrawals and deposits are enabled 2 business days later.
- You cannot use TWD features during this period, meaning no TWD deposits or withdrawals.
In total, you may be unable to deposit or withdraw TWD for up to about 6 business days. If you have TWD to withdraw, withdraw it to the old account first, then switch to the new one. Don’t change accounts when you urgently need the money.
When you enter the new account, copy the account name, account number and branch code exactly as they appear in your passbook. Some banks start the account number with the three or four digits of the branch code, so don’t leave them out. If you can’t find your branch in the system, don’t just pick a similar one; MAX suggests calling customer service.
The path in the app is: log in > “User” (bottom right) > “Bank account linking” > “Settings” > “Change to a new bank account” > enter your bank details > submit.
Summary: how to save when converting USDT to TWD
- Use maker orders, not market orders: the USDT/TWD spread is usually very small, and the 0.08% maker fee is half the 0.16% taker fee. Tick Post-only to make sure you pay the maker rate.
- Withdraw in one go instead of many small withdrawals: each withdrawal costs a flat NT$30, so the more you split it, the more you pay.
- Submit withdrawals before 11:00: after 11:00, the transfer moves back by one business day; before long holidays, submit even earlier.
- Withdraw before changing bank accounts: the review and activation can leave you without TWD deposits and withdrawals for up to about 6 business days.
